Home to Me

Home to Me

I finally found my piece of fame
Hearing people shout my name
In the spotlight just like I always dreamed
But I feel like a stranger here
I go out to get some air
And this city closes in on me
Over glaring neon lights
And these blinking traffic signs
The empty sky’s a hundred shades of gray
I’m looking for the lights
That I won’t see tonight
But they’re calling me from somewhere far away

In a place where I feel free
Full of stars and bright moonlight
This is home to me
There is nothing like a Western night
They say home’s where you hang your hat
But I’d have to disagree
If there aren’t stars, then it’s not home to me.

Momma always used to say
That the stars were God’s own way
To watch over me when it was dark.
My heart believes He’s watchin’ still
But I just can’t feel Him here
Think this cowboy’s drifted off too far
Time to head for solid ground
Where my memories are found
Beneath that sky that I’ve been longing for

In a place where I feel free
Full of stars and bright moonlight
This is home to me
There is nothing like a Western night
They say home’s where you hang your hat
But I’d have to disagree
If there aren’t stars, then it’s not home to me.

Sun goes down
And heaven starts to shine
Beneath these stars
I find my peace of mind

In a place where I feel free
Full of stars and bright moonlight
This is home to me
There is nothing like a Western night
They say home’s where you hang your hat
But I’d have to disagree
If there aren’t stars, then it’s not home to me.

If there aren’t stars, then it’s not home to me.
