Ninna Nanna

Ninna Nanna

I have always felt a deep connection with my Italian side. Living in Italy, immersed in the culture, strengthened my ties to those particular roots. I had the opportunity to walk the streets where my great-grandparents lived. Amy & I fell in love with this sweet poem, & the music came naturally. —Natalie

Ninna nanna, figlio prediletto,
dormi amore, placido e beato
fai la nanna, bimbo benedetto,
cresci forte, bello e fortunato.
Tu, piccino, sei il benvenuto,
dalle stelle a noi sembri piovuto.

La mamma ti culla notte e giorno
e gli angeli cantano a te attorno.

Ninna nanna, figlio tanto caro,
dia a te la vita solo rose;
fai la nanna, sembri un fiore raro
nato fresco fra le zolle erbose.
Dormi dormi bella e dolce fiamma
Che allieta e riscalda babbo e mamma

La mamma ti culla notte e giorno
e gli angeli cantano a te attorno.

Ninna nanna
Dormi dormi

La mamma ti culla notte e giorno
e gli angeli cantano a te attorno.

English translation:

Lullaby, my darling child
Sleep my love, quiet & content
Beddy-bye, blessed baby
Grow up strong, beautiful & fortunate
You, tiny one, are most welcome,
You seem to have rained down to us from the stars.
Mamma cradles you night & day
& the angels sing all around you.

Lullaby, beloved child,
May life give you only roses;
Beddy-bye; you seem like a rare flower
Born fresh between grassy clumps
Sleep; sleep, lovely, sweet little flame
Which gladdens & warms daddy & mamma.

Mamma cradles you night & day
& the angels sing all around you.

Lullaby
Sleep, sleep

Mamma cradles you night & day
& the angels sing all around you.
