Up Kind of Day

No more morning grumpiness--the only way to get out of bed the FlyLady way is UP! Parents can set the tone for the whole day by greeting our families with a smile and positive attitude. Yes, things may not always go the way we or our kids want them to, but they can be taught that thinking UP kind of thoughts is always their choice. Try playing this song first thing in the morning as younger children get ready, or put it in a CD alarm clock for older kids who wake on their own. Let's all get UP!

Up Kind of Day
2008 Amy Lacey

Sometimes I think that Sun is rising too soon
Can I just pull the covers over my head?
But then I think of all I've got to do now
The first thing is to get my body out of this bed

So I get up! Up! Here I go
Even if I'm starting slow
I'm smilin', I'm groovin'
Gotta get this body movin'
Thinking up! Up! Kind of thoughts
Gonna give this new day all I've got
And in no time at all, things are going my way
Gonna have an up! Up! Kind of day

I now sometimes there will be things that get me down
My day won't always go the way that I plan
But I'm a tough kid, I can deal with it
I'll make the best of it, I know that I can

So I get up! Up! Here I go
Even if I'm starting slow
I'm smilin', I'm groovin'
Gotta get this body movin'
Thinking up! Up! Kind of thoughts
Gonna give this new day all I've got
And in no time at all, things are going my way
Gonna have an up! Up! Kind of day

Even if my day seems low
Nowhere for my dreams to go
I'll still reach for the sky
It's time to watch me fly!

So I get up! Up! Here I go
Even if I'm starting slow
I'm smilin', I'm groovin'
Gotta get this body movin'
Thinking up! Up! Kind of thoughts
Gonna give this new day all I've got
And in no time at all, things are going my way
Gonna have an up! Up! Kind of day
